Podcast Review: ‘The Call to Mastery’ by Jordan Raynor

Recently I discovered this excellent podcast by Jordan Raynor, titled “The Call to Mastery”. From their About page, it says that “this is a podcast for Christians who want to do their most exceptional work for the glory of God and the good of others.”

Each podcast episode features a conversation with a Christian who is pursuing “world-class mastery of their vocation”.

I’m surprised to find big names like Timothy Keller, Cal Newport and Matt Perman, authors of books I love and have reviewed before.

Jordan Raynor himself is the author of Called to Create and Master of One. He’s recently released his new book Redeeming Your Time, which I had read and found extremely helpful. I plan to review it in the near future.

Why I recommend this podcast

I like his energetic personality and his engaging conversational style throughout his interviews. He has a high view of Christian vocation in the workplace, something I aspire to emulate.

The idea of interviewing Christ-followers to share valuable experience also inspires me to do the same for a Singaporean context. What is it like to pursue mastery and excellence in their calling as a Christian in Singapore? How does this look like in a specific vocation? These are the questions I hope to explore through my blog interviews.

I recommend this podcast to any Christian who are keen to apply their faith in creating their most exceptional work, for the glory of God and the good of others.
