“Start with Why”, says Simon Sinek. Here I am sharing an article I wrote back in 2003 about why I entered teaching, and how that has evolved over the years.
Whether you are thriving in a dream job or struggling to find meaning at work, job crafting can bring you one step closer to your calling.
Burnout happens to the best of us, even when we are living at the center of our calling. Yet we avoid the stigma and push ourselves, pretending to be okay when the pain is screaming inside us. This is my burnout story, and how God slowly brings healing back into my life.

Marcus Mok is a Christian teaching Chinese Language in a secondary school in Singapore. He serves as a deacon, lay preacher, Bible teacher and interpreter in his church. He is passionate about helping young adults and teenagers to discover and flourish in their individual callings, and fellow Christians in their mid-career to develop depth and meaning in their work.
